- Location: Durham, NC 27710 (Durham, North Carolina travel nursing)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (May 4, 2026 – August 3, 2026)
- Shift: Day shifts, 12 hours (07:00 – 19:30); every other weekend required
- Hours per Week: 36
- Patient Age Groups: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents
- Unit: Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) – Pediatric ICU / PICU travel nurse role
- Daily Census: 20 beds
- Orientation: Bi-weekly, 36 hours (travel nurse onboarding)
- Job Type: Travel Nurse / Contract — Pediatric ICU Registered Nurse
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of recent PICU experience (PICU RN or Pediatric ICU Registered Nurse)
- Active North Carolina RN license or Compact RN license in hand
- BLS and PALS certifications required
- Experience with Epic charting system preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Experience in community hospital, LTAC, Trauma Level I/II settings preferred
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
- First-time travelers and local candidates (within 75 miles) welcome
- One supervisory reference from the past year required
Primary Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality pediatric intensive care nursing to patients with complex congenital heart conditions and other critical illnesses
- Manage and monitor patients on advanced support including VADs, ECMO, CRRT, ventilators, and arterial/central lines
- Administer medications and blood products; perform procedures such as intubation, lumbar puncture, and central line care
- Document patient care accurately using Epic; maintain clear, timely charting for Pediatric ICU patients
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams including IV therapy, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and social services
- Maintain infection control standards, isolation precautions, and PICU safety protocols
- Float to other units as needed to support staffing (flexible pediatric nurse responsibilities)
- Participate in bi-weekly orientation and ongoing training modules (travel nurse training and onboarding)
- Provide family-centered education and emotional support to patients and families
