PICU Registered Nurse (RN) Travel Contract in Durham, NC — 13-week Pediatric Cardiac ICU assignment; BLS & PALS required. - Shift: Days, 3 x 12-hour (07:00 - 19:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910 - $2,010
- Patient Ratio: 1:1
- Start Date: Target May 4, 2026 (alternate May 18, 2026)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Orientation: Bi-weekly, 36 hours
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of PICU RN experience (pediatric critical care or pediatric cardiac ICU experience preferred)
- Active North Carolina RN license or Compact RN license (must be in hand)
- BLS and PALS certifications required (must be current and in hand)
- Experience with Epic charting system preferred (electronic medical record experience helpful)
- Preferred experience: charge nurse duties, community hospital, LTAC, Trauma Level I/II exposure
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
- First-time travel nurses and local candidates (within 75 miles) welcome
- One supervisory reference from the past year required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, family-centered critical care nursing to pediatric cardiac and post-surgical patients
- Manage and monitor complex cardiac patients, including congenital heart disease post-op care
- Operate and troubleshoot advanced life support and critical care equipment (ECMO, VADs, CRRT, ventilators)
- Administer medications and blood products; perform central line care and arterial line management; assist with intubation
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, social services, IV teams)
- Float to other units as needed and participate in unit-based education
- Follow infection control and isolation precautions; maintain accurate documentation in EMR
