ProFee Anesthesia/Pain Management (Permanent, OnSite) – Mountain Region, Colorado

ProFee Cardiothoracic Coder – Onsite in Mountain Region, Colorado. Seeking a medical coder with 3+ years coding complex heart, lung, and chest procedures (ICD?10?CM & CPT) for ProFee and facility billing in a high?volume cardiothoracic environment.

Job Details

  • Employment Type: Permanent, Direct Hire (Medical Coder / Cardiology Coder)
  • Location: Mountain Region, Colorado (On?site) — Colorado coding jobs, Rocky Mountains
  • Hours: 40 hours per week (6AM–6PM in coder's time zone; consistent schedule required)
  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,038 – $1,558
  • Annual Salary Range: $54,000 – $81,000 (based on experience and resume)
  • Start Date: June 1, 2026
  • Environment: High?volume, high?acuity cardiothoracic / surgical / procedural coding (ProFee & facility)

Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of professional coding experience with complex cardiothoracic cases (heart, lung, chest, trauma)
  • Strong knowledge of ICD?10?CM and CPT coding for ProFee and facility billing
  • Experience coding inpatient and outpatient E/M and telehealth services
  • Proven ability to abstract coding from operative reports, procedure notes, and clinical documentation
  • Familiarity with EPIC and Optum Encoder Pro (EHR and encoder experience)
  • Comfort with regular audits, documentation queries, and maintaining 95%+ accuracy
  • Must reside in a hirable state (including CO, AL, AZ, AR, FL, GA, ID, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, MO, MS, NE, NM, NC, OH, OK, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WV, WY)
  • Certifications such as CPC, CCA, or CCS preferred (not required) — clinical documentation improvement (CDI) experience a plus

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately code complex cardiothoracic surgical and procedural cases using ICD?10?CM and CPT for ProFee (professional) and facility billing
  • Abstract operative notes, surgical reports, anesthesia records, and procedure documentation to ensure correct code assignment and maximum reimbursement
  • Manage edits, denials, rework, and appeals; meet productivity and quality targets (8–15 cases per hour)
  • Participate in random quarterly audits and surgical audit team reviews to maintain coding integrity and compliance
  • Apply exception?based coding for cases requiring physician work above typical expectations
  • Collaborate with audit, education, clinical documentation improvement (CDI), and clinical teams to resolve documentation queries and improve coding processes
  • Achieve full productivity and quality benchmarks within 90 days as part of onboarding
