  • Weekend Requirement: Weekend coverage required, with up to 6 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule period
  • Float Requirement: May float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
  • Patient Ratio: Typically 1:1 to 1:2

Job Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required
  • At least 1 year of recent RN experience required; 2 years of cardiac ICU or CVICU experience preferred
  • BLS certification required
  • ACLS certification required
  • NIHSS certification required
  • Recent CVICU, cardiac ICU, or critical care experience with high-acuity cardiovascular patients
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Experience with ventilators, telemetry, IV starts, Swan-Ganz monitoring, conscious sedation, balloon pumps, and PA lines preferred
  • Ability to work weekends, rotating holidays, and float as needed
  • Graduate of an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care as a CVICU Registered Nurse in a high-acuity cardiovascular intensive care setting
  • Monitor and manage adult patients recovering from CABG, valve repair or replacement, TAVR, vascular and thoracic procedures, transplant, and other complex cardiovascular interventions
  • Assess, monitor, and respond to changes in patient condition using advanced critical care nursing judgment
  • Manage ventilators, vasoactive drips, sedation, arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, and hemodynamic monitoring equipment
  • Support care for patients requiring ECMO, CRRT, IABP, Impella, VAD, and temporary pacing as appropriate to unit needs
  • Administer medications, blood products, and emergency interventions in accordance with clinical protocols
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rehabilitation services to deliver exceptional patient care
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Epic
  • Adhere to unit policies, infection prevention standards, and patient safety best practices
