Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800 - $1,890 (Competitive travel nurse pay)
• Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico (NM) 87102 — Cardiac ICU / Heart Hospital
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 13, 2026 – July 13, 2026)
• Shift: Night shifts, 12 hours (18:30 – 07:00)
• Hours per Week: 36 (option for 48 hours available)
• Unit: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) – 16 beds
• Patient Ratio: 1:2 (Cardiac ICU RN staffing)
• Interdisciplinary Support: PT, Respiratory Therapy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response, Pharmacy, Transport

Job Requirements / Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU / Cardiac ICU experience preferred (post-op cardiac surgery experience highly valued)
• Previous travel nursing experience required (travel RN / CVICU travel nurse)
• Active Registered Nurse license: New Mexico RN or Compact RN accepted; pending accepted if issued prior to start
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Comfortable managing 1:2 patient ratios and high-acuity cardiac patients
• Experience with arterial lines, pulmonary artery catheters, IABP, and vasoactive/antiarrhythmic infusions
• Familiarity with ECMO, TAVR, LVAD/RVAD support and sheath removal is a plus
• Locals within a 50-mile radius are not eligible

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, evidence-based care to adult and geriatric patients in the CVICU (Cardiac ICU RN duties)
• Manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure and complex post-cardiac surgery needs
• Interpret cardiac rhythms, manage dysrhythmias, and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Monitor and manage arterial lines, pulmonary artery lines, intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP)
• Assist with advanced procedures including ECMO, TAVR, LVAD/RVAD care, and sheath removal as indicated
• Administer blood products, follow IV insulin protocols, and manage continuous IV sedation
• Perform ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP maintenance, and hypothermia protocols when required
• Maintain infection prevention, isolation precautions, and accurate documentation in the medical record
• Float to like units as needed based on facility requirements and provide collaborative care with interdisciplinary teams
