Job Details

• Position: CVICU Registered Nurse (RN) / Travel RN / Cardiac ICU RN
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,660 – $1,750
• Location: Winston-Salem, NC (Zip: 27103) — Winston-Salem healthcare / North Carolina nursing jobs
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour nights (18:45 – 07:15)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Ratio: 1:1 nights, 2:1 weekends
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Float Requirement: May float within hospital or to affiliate hospitals
• Scheduling Type: Self-scheduling
• Unit Orientation: Provided during first week

Requirements / Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or Compact state (required at time of start)
• Minimum 2 years recent Critical Care (CC) experience; CVICU or open heart experience required
• Travel RN experience required (no first-time travelers)
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Epic charting experience preferred (EPIC electronic health record)
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Ability to float to other units as needed; strong teamwork and communication skills

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care for post-open heart recovery patients, thoracotomies, esophagogastrectomies, and TAVR patients
• Manage advanced cardiac devices and therapies including ECMO, IABP, LVAD/RVAD, Impella, and CRRT
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, arterial lines, and pulmonary artery (Swan-Ganz) monitoring
• Administer blood products and titrate cardiac drips per protocols
• Caring for mechanically ventilated patients and managing continuous IV sedation
• Perform central line care, arterial blood gas interpretation, and implement isolation precautions
• Assist with chest tube insertion/removal and manage BiPAP/CPAP and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, and IV teams
• Document and communicate patient care using SBAR and hospital systems such as EPIC and PYXIS
