Emergency Room RN Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Iowa
- At least 1 year of professional nursing experience
- Emergency department, emergency room, or comparable acute-care nursing experience
- Demonstrated ability to assess, prioritize, and care for patients with varying levels of acuity
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
- Willingness to work 12-hour day shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed
- Ability to complete required credentialing, competency validation, and compliance requirements
Emergency Department Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Perform focused and comprehensive nursing assessments for emergency department patients
- Prioritize nursing care based on patient acuity and changing clinical conditions
- Administer medications and treatments safely according to orders and established protocols
- Monitor patient responses and promptly communicate changes in condition to the appropriate healthcare team
- Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary staff to coordinate timely patient care
- Provide patient and family education, emotional support, and discharge instructions
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record
- Support a safe, organized, and efficient emergency department environment
