Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Current Pharmacy Technician certification, if required by the state
- Valid license/registration, if required by the state
- At least 1 year of pharmacy technician experience required
- Previous inpatient hospital pharmacy or clinical healthcare experience
- Experience working in a hospital within the last 5 years
- Ability to maintain accuracy, organization, and professionalism in a clinical setting
- Familiarity with sterile and non-sterile compounding procedures preferred
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily hospital pharmacy operations under the supervision of a pharmacist
- Pick up medication orders, prepare medications, and deliver doses to the appropriate patient care areas
- Support accurate billing, crediting, and medication documentation
- Maintain drug inventory, including ordering, receiving, storage, and required paperwork
- Track narcotics and controlled substances in accordance with policy and documentation standards
- Prepare unit-dose medication boxes and replenish stock items as needed
- Assist with sterile and non-sterile compounding in compliance with USP 795, 797, and 800
- Follow medication repacking procedures under pharmacist supervision
- Participate in inventory, quality improvement, and monthly unit inspections
- Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and excellent customer service throughout the hospital
