Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Board Certified Physician Assistant (NCCPA) — PA-C
  • BLS certification (AHA)
  • Active Colorado license highly preferred (Colorado PA jobs / Colorado locum tenens applicants encouraged)
  • Minimum 6 months experience in cardiac surgery assisting on CABG (including EVH and endoscopic radial harvesting), valve surgery, structural heart, and aortic procedures
  • At least 1 year of relevant surgical or perioperative experience required
  • Proficiency inserting and removing arterial lines
  • COVID-19 vaccination required
  • Clean background and malpractice history preferred

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as first assist in adult cardiac and thoracic surgeries: CABG, valve repair/replacement, aortic aneurysm repair, lung resection, and other cardiothoracic procedures
  • Perform endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) and endoscopic radial artery harvesting
  • Insert and remove arterial lines and assist with central line placement as needed
  • Provide perioperative and intraoperative support in the operating room and coordinate with ICU teams for post-op care
  • Participate in call coverage per schedule (one night per week, one weekend per month)
  • Collaborate with surgeons, advanced practice providers (APPs), anesthesiology, and critical care staff to ensure continuity of care
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation and follow hospital policies for patient safety and quality
