- Estimated Weekly Pay (Travel Respiratory Therapist): $1,760 - $1,890
- Location: La Plata, MD 20646 (Charles County, Southern Maryland)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: April 27, 2026
- Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:30) — Respiratory Therapist night shift
- Hours per Week: 36
- Employment Type: Travel Contract / Travel Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Patient Population: Neonates, Pediatrics, Adults, Geriatrics — neonatal/pediatric and adult respiratory care
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required
- Holiday Coverage: As scheduled
- Floating: Required within specialty and to units needing respiratory support (ICU, med-surg, LTAC, LTC, medevac)
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years recent Respiratory Therapy experience; critical care or ventilator experience preferred
- Active Maryland or Compact Respiratory Therapist License
- CRT or RRT credential required
- Current AHA certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
- CPI certification (The Calm Every Storm online version)
- Comfortable providing respiratory care across patient populations and diagnoses requiring mechanical ventilation and noninvasive support
- Ability to float to different units as needed (ICU, med-surg, LTAC, LTC, ED)
- Two satisfactory professional references from most recent employers
- Permanent residence must be at least 50 miles from facility (travel assignment requirement)
Responsibilities / Respiratory Therapist Duties
- Provide respiratory care and ventilator management for neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatric patients
- Administer and monitor respiratory treatments including invasive and noninvasive ventilation (ventilators, BiPAP, CPAP), high-flow oxygen, and aerosol therapies
- Perform and interpret arterial blood gas (ABG) draws and blood gas analysis
- Support high-risk deliveries and provide emergency airway management and resuscitation
- Assist with ventilator weaning, ventilator checks, and respiratory equipment troubleshooting
- Float between units as required (ICU, med-surg, LTAC, LTC, ED, medevac) to meet respiratory care needs
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including Rapid Response Teams, physicians, and nursing staff
- Maintain accurate documentation, follow hospital respiratory protocols, and participate in orientation and compliance modules
