Respiratory Therapist Job Details

• Location: Plattsburgh, NY 12901 (New York healthcare jobs)
• Facility: Hospital – Respiratory Care Unit
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 1/22/2026 – End: 4/23/2026)
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (6:30pm – 7:00am)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2140 - $2290
• Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and holidays as scheduled
• Floating: Required to hospital floors, nursery, and ER
• Documentation System: EPIC
• Medication System: Pyxis
• Orientation: 2 days

Registered Respiratory Therapist Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience as a Respiratory Therapist
• Experience with neonatal and pediatric populations preferred
• Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications
• EPIC documentation experience within the past 2 years (required)
• Ability to float to various hospital units
• Reliable personal transportation (public transit not available)
• Compliance with hospital dress code (black or ceil blue scrubs, closed non-skid shoes, minimal jewelry, groomed hair/beard, N95 mask ready)

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality respiratory care to neonate, pediatric, and adult patients
• Operate and manage ventilators (Puritan Bennett 980 & 840, LTV1200) and respiratory equipment
• Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis and monitoring
• Provide respiratory support in the nursery and emergency room
• Document patient care accurately using EPIC
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Float to other hospital units as needed
• Maintain compliance with safety and infection control protocols
