Job Requirements
- Recent inpatient medical coding experience preferred
- Strong inpatient coding and ICD-10-PCS experience
- Recent experience coding in a Level 1 teaching and trauma setting
- Experience working with Epic and 3M 360
- Ability to accurately code high-acuity and complex inpatient charts
- Strong understanding of coding guidelines and documentation review
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the broader team
- Comfort receiving coaching, audit feedback, and applying learnings to future cases
Responsibilities
- Review and code complex inpatient medical records with a high degree of accuracy
- Apply ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding guidelines consistently and appropriately
- Thoroughly analyze clinical documentation to support compliant code assignment
- Maintain productivity standards while prioritizing coding quality and accuracy
- Work within a structured coding environment and follow established workflows
- Collaborate with team members and ask thoughtful questions when clarification is needed
- Incorporate audit and coaching feedback into ongoing coding performance
- Support accurate coding outcomes in a fast-paced, high-complexity inpatient setting
