Job Details – Travel Nurse (Vascular Access Nurse)

  • Location: Boston, MA 02115 (Greater Boston healthcare hub — medical, academic, and historic neighborhoods)
  • Position: IR Registered Nurse (RN) – Pediatric IV Therapy / Vascular Access Team (Travel Nurse)
  • Assignment Type: Travel Contract / Travel RN
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks (April 5, 2026 – July 5, 2026)
  • Hours: 36 hours/week (guaranteed)
  • Shift: 12-hour shifts; rotating day/mid (7:00 AM–7:30 PM, 11:00 AM–11:30 PM, 3:00 PM–3:30 AM)
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes — 3 of 6 weekends per contract
  • Patient Population: Pediatrics, adolescents, adults
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Float Requirement: Hospital-wide float as needed
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,250–$2,370 (based on experience)

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years recent RN experience in pediatric vascular access or high-acuity settings (Heme/Onc, ICU, NICU)
  • Proven expertise in ultrasound-guided IV placement and use of vein finder technology
  • Experience inserting and managing PICC lines, peripheral IVs, and implanted ports
  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license (permanent license in hand required)
  • Current BLS certification (American Heart Association preferred)
  • Comfortable caring for pediatric through adult populations; strong pediatric vascular access skills
  • Two professional references from two of the last three employers (from different facilities)
  • COVID-19 and seasonal flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
  • First-time travelers and local candidates accepted (local candidates within 50 miles may be considered at different rate)

Key Responsibilities – Vascular Access Nurse / IR RN

  • Perform efficient, accurate ultrasound-guided peripheral IV insertions for patients with difficult vascular access
  • Assess vascular access sites and vessels; recommend the most appropriate vascular access device per patient needs
  • Insert and manage vascular access devices, including PICC lines and implanted ports, following hospital protocols
  • Troubleshoot vascular access issues, assess patency, and monitor IV sites for complications
  • Float throughout the hospital to support multiple units and cross-cover as needed
  • Document care and procedures accurately and timely in Epic
  • Rapidly learn and adhere to hospital policies, unit workflows, and interprofessional collaboration practices
  • Collaborate with physicians, vascular access teams, and interdisciplinary staff to deliver safe, high-quality patient care
