Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Oakland, California

Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,360–$2,480
- Location: Oakland, California
- Specialty: Labor & Delivery Nursing
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week
- Shift Duration: 12-hour night shifts, approximately 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holidays: Required when they fall on the scheduled rotation
- Call: None
- Unit Size: 8 beds
Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse experience
- Active California Registered Nurse license
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications
- Experience caring for antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and high-risk obstetric patients
- Strong clinical judgment and the ability to respond effectively to obstetric and neonatal emergencies
- BSN preferred
- Epic or comparable electronic health record experience preferred
Labor & Delivery Nursing Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care throughout labor, delivery, cesarean recovery, and the postpartum period
- Circulate for cesarean sections and recover patients following operative delivery
- Perform ongoing pain assessments and administer medications, including magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, and other ordered therapies
- Monitor maternal and fetal status using external and internal fetal monitoring, NSTs, and other appropriate assessments
- Recognize and respond to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, preeclampsia, eclampsia, postpartum hemorrhage, preterm labor, placental complications, and other high-risk conditions
- Support neonatal resuscitation and provide immediate newborn care, including thermoregulation and security procedures
- Assist with vaginal deliveries, multiple births, high-risk antepartum care, and obstetric procedures
- Provide breastfeeding education, couplet care, discharge teaching, and emotional support to patients and families
- Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary teams to promote safe, respectful, patient-centered care
