Job Requirements
- Active RN license in Texas or a compact state
- At least 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty required
- Labor & Delivery, obstetric, or perinatal nursing experience preferred
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Current AHA BLS certification required
- Current AHA ACLS certification required
- Current NRP certification required
- Current AWHONN Intermediate FHM or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring certification required
- Ability to complete orientation, competency validation, and annual training requirements
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high-quality patient care in a Labor & Delivery unit
- Use the nursing process to assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate patient care
- Monitor maternal and fetal status and respond appropriately to changes in condition
- Administer medications and treatments according to protocol and monitor for effectiveness
- Document patient history, symptoms, care delivered, and clinical outcomes accurately
- Educate patients and families on care needs, procedures, and available resources
- Support a collaborative healthcare team and make appropriate assignments when needed
- Provide compassionate care while addressing physical, emotional, cultural, and social needs
