Labor & Delivery RN – Nights – Travel Nurse in Midlothian, VA. Active RN license, 1+ year L&D experience, BLS/ACLS/NRP required.

- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour nights; every other weekend and major holiday required
- Hours per Week: 36
- On-call: Up to 24 hours per 6 weeks
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,020 – $2,130 (competitive travel nurse pay)
Job Requirements – L&D RN Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or multistate compact RN license
- Minimum 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience (antepartum, intrapartum, cesarean section, postpartum care, magnesium sulfate administration)
- Hospital experience required; high-acuity L&D experience preferred
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
- Preferred: 3+ years of L&D experience and C-EFM certification (Continuous Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
- Preferred: Experience with Epic and Perinatal Centricity (QS) or other OB EMR systems
- Must be able to circulate for C-sections; ability to scrub/assist in deliveries preferred
- Clinical skills: fetal heart monitoring, OR circulation, cardiac monitoring, use of infant warmer, blood glucose monitoring
- Must be able to float within the New Life Center or to other L&D units as needed
- No local travelers within a 50-mile radius will be considered
Responsibilities – Labor & Delivery Nurse Duties
- Provide comprehensive, family-centered care to mothers and newborns throughout labor, delivery, and the postpartum period
- Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
- Circulate for C-sections and assist with deliveries as needed; support OB team during high-acuity events
- Administer medications (including oxytocin, magnesium sulfate, analgesia/anesthesia support) and monitor patient responses
- Use fetal heart monitoring (C-EFM) and other specialized obstetric equipment to ensure fetal and maternal safety
- Provide patient and family education regarding labor, delivery, postpartum care, breastfeeding, and newborn care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (OB/Gyn, anesthesiology, neonatology, pediatrics) to ensure optimal outcomes
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) and uphold patient safety and quality standards
- Float to other units within the New Life Center or L&D as required by staffing needs
