Qualifications & Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-specific requirements apply)
- BLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
- ACLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
- Minimum 2 years of bedside clinical experience (1 year ICU experience preferred)
- Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and patient education skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills for interdisciplinary care coordination
- Preferred: Experience in LTAC or with complex respiratory patients (tracheostomy/ventilator care) and prior travel nursing experience
Key Responsibilities (LTAC / Travel RN)
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments within 8 hours of patient admission
- Develop individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team
- Provide direct patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from admission to support safe transitions of care
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and in a timely manner per facility policies and EHR best practices
- Supervise and provide direction to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and orientees
- Promote patient and employee safety, adhering to hospital guidelines and safety policies
- Participate in team conferences and contribute to a positive, efficient work environment
- Assume charge responsibilities as requested after orientation
- Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education relevant to LTAC nursing and travel RN roles
