CNA Qualifications – Long Term Care

• Active NYS Certified Nursing Assistant license
• BLS Certification (AHA or RQI only)
• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 1 year experience in LTC or CNA role

Certified Nursing Assistant Responsibilities

• Deliver direct and indirect resident care under supervision of licensed nursing staff
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs): hygiene, grooming, dressing, toileting, turning/positioning, and skin care
• Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment; respond promptly to call lights and alarms
• Support nutritional needs: meal delivery, tray preparation, feeding, and honoring resident preferences
• Assist with rehabilitative care: range of motion, ambulation, transfers, and use of assistive devices
• Accurately document care and observations per facility protocol
• Report resident rights, refusals, concerns, and status changes to Charge Nurse promptly
• Follow safety protocols and infection control procedures, including bloodborne pathogen precautions
