Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year recent CNA experience in a Long Term Care (LTC) setting; demonstrated geriatric care experience preferred
  • Previous travel CNA experience required (experience with travel healthcare jobs boosts success)
  • Active CNA license in another U.S. state AND documentation showing Alaska CNA license application submitted (application, fee, fingerprints, education verification, and license verification)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from AHA required
  • Willingness to obtain Alaska Food Worker Certification (completed on-site during orientation; $10 fee)
  • Provide a minimum of two supervisory references covering at least 6 months of employment within the last three years in a comparable specialty/setting, with at least one from LTC work experience
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (no local candidates accepted)
  • Minimum age 25 to qualify for facility vehicle; must provide valid driver’s license and proof of insurance
  • Willingness to float within scope as needed; able to work at least 2 of 3 major winter holidays if assignment covers those dates

Responsibilities

  • Deliver compassionate, high-quality care to adult and geriatric residents in a 40-bed long term care facility
  • Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs): bathing, feeding, ambulation, toileting, and personal hygiene
  • Monitor and accurately document vital signs; report changes in resident condition to nursing staff
  • Assist with safe patient transfers and mobility support
  • Support residents with Alzheimer’s, dementia, TBI, and behavioral health needs
  • Maintain accurate charting using ECS and follow facility documentation standards
  • Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and proper use of PPE
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members—RNs, LPNs, therapists, and social services—to ensure optimal resident care
  • Float to other units within scope as needed to meet facility needs
