Travel Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Contract in Cushing, Oklahoma

- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts
- Shift Hours: Approximately 6:45 p.m.–7:15 a.m.
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours
- Weekend Coverage: Weekends required
- Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
- Typical Patient Ratio: 6:1
- Charting: Epic
- Unit Environment: Medical-surgical care with telemetry and continuous pulse oximetry
- Additional Expectations: Floating to like units may be required based on patient-care needs
Med/Surg Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma or a valid compact RN license at the time of submission
- At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Experience caring for adult and geriatric patients in an acute-care or community-hospital setting preferred
- Epic electronic health record (EHR) charting experience preferred
- Ability to work night shifts, weekends, and float to comparable units as needed
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, organization, and teamwork skills
Medical-Surgical RN Responsibilities
- Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric medical-surgical patients
- Assess patients, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate outcomes
- Care for patients with conditions including sepsis, pneumonia, congestive heart failure, wounds, substance withdrawal, and postoperative needs
- Administer medications, IV therapies, insulin protocols, blood products, and oxygen therapies according to established standards
- Monitor telemetry, dysrhythmias, continuous pulse oximetry, and changes in patient condition
- Manage peripheral and central lines, PICC lines, feeding tubes, surgical drains, chest tubes, wound care, and wound vacs within scope and competency
- Perform or assist with phlebotomy, IV starts, central-line blood draws, tracheostomy care, and other medical-surgical procedures
- Use Epic to accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, radiology, phlebotomy, interpretation services, and rapid response teams
- Support safe transitions of care through patient education, discharge planning, and effective communication with the interdisciplinary team
