Job Details
- Location: Fort Wayne, IN 46845 — Fort Wayne nursing jobs; Indianapolis market proximity and regional healthcare hub
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 5/4/2026 – End: 8/3/2026)
- Shift: 12-hour days (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM), 36 hours/week
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, including 3 weekend shifts every 4 weeks
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020 – $2,130 (travel nurse pay)
- Setting: General Medical-Surgical Units (Central Registry / Float Pool)
- Dress Code: Caribbean Blue scrubs
Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Active RN license in Indiana or an active Compact RN license accepted (Indiana travel nurse eligibility)
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
- Minimum 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary clinical experience
- At least 1 year of Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) experience at a large hospital (600+ beds)
- Proficiency with Epic electronic health record (EHR) and charting
- Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and interdisciplinary communication skills
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive medical-surgical nursing care for patients with varied diagnoses, including chronic illness, infections, neurological conditions, and behavioral health needs
- Perform focused and comprehensive assessments, develop care plans, and coordinate care with physicians and interdisciplinary teams
- Administer medications and IV therapies safely, including heparin and insulin drips, and manage feeding pumps
- Operate and troubleshoot clinical equipment such as IV pumps, wound VACs, feeding tubes, chest tubes, and telemetry monitors
- Float to other medical units as needed (central registry/float pool), maintaining expected patient ratios (typically 1:5–1:6)
- Participate in Jump Start orientation, Epic training, and ongoing competency development as a travel nurse
