Job Requirements

  • At least 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary Med/Surg experience (Med-Surgical RN)
  • Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg experience at a large hospital (600+ beds)
  • Active Indiana RN license or compact (multi-state) RN license accepted
  • Current BLS (AHA)
  • Ability to float to other medical units as needed — flexibility valued for travel nursing roles

Responsibilities

  • Provide general medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse adult patient population in an acute care setting
  • Perform assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team
  • Document accurately in Epic EHR and maintain compliance with hospital policies
  • Utilize and manage IV pumps, wound VACs, feeding pumps/tubes, chest tubes, and administer heparin and insulin drips
  • Care for patients with chronic illnesses, infectious conditions, neurological issues, and mental health disorders
  • Assist with procedures including colonoscopies, thoracentesis/paracentesis, bronchoscopy, minor surgeries, and biopsies
  • Maintain patient ratios typically 1:5–6 and prioritize safe, high-quality patient care
  • Participate in Jump Start orientation including Epic training and hospital onboarding for travel nurses
