Travel Mother-Baby Registered Nurse (RN) – Postpartum & Couplet Care
Experienced Registered Nurses can join a collaborative mother-baby team in Mission Hills, California, for a 13-week travel nursing assignment focused on postpartum, newborn, and high-risk obstetric care. Located in the scenic San Fernando Valley, this opportunity offers convenient access to Los Angeles attractions, dining, cultural experiences, and outdoor recreation.
Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,830–$1,930
- Location: Mission Hills, California, in the Los Angeles area
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks, through February 1, 2027
- Shift: Night shift, 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
- Shift Duration: 12 hours
- Shifts per Week: 3
- Hours per Week: 36
- Unit: Mother/Baby, postpartum, and couplet care
- Typical Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Charting: Epic
- Patient Population: Neonates, adolescents, and adults
- Call: Required
- Weekend Coverage: Approximately 6 weekend shifts during the 12-week period
- Floating: Rotational floating within the division based on competency, including labor and delivery recovery support and limited neonatal assistance
- Orientation: 24 hours
Mother-Baby Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license or compact license in hand at the time of submission; pending licenses are not accepted
- At least 3 years of recent Registered Nurse experience, including mother-baby, postpartum, or couplet care
- Previous experience caring for high-risk obstetric patients
- Experience with postpartum magnesium sulfate care
- Current BLS certification
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Clinical experience with cesarean section recovery, high-risk antepartum care, postpartum care, and vaginal delivery
- Ability to care for patients with preeclampsia, diabetes, late preterm needs, and hyperbilirubinemia
- Ability to work scheduled night shifts, required call coverage, weekend shifts, and applicable holiday rotations
- Two professional references covering at least one year of recent work experience within the last three years
Postpartum and Couplet Care Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to postpartum patients, newborns, and mother-baby couplets
- Monitor and manage patients with high-risk obstetric conditions, including preeclampsia and diabetes
- Administer and monitor magnesium sulfate therapy in accordance with clinical protocols
- Care for patients recovering from vaginal and cesarean deliveries
- Assess newborns and support care for late preterm infants and patients requiring phototherapy
- Educate families regarding newborn care, feeding, recovery, warning signs, and discharge readiness
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in Epic
- Collaborate with respiratory services, pharmacy, social services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, and rapid response teams
- Float to comparable units within the division when needed and within demonstrated competency
- Promote safe, compassionate, evidence-based care for patients and families throughout the assignment
