Minimum Requirements / Qualifications

  • Active California RN license required (must be in hand before start)
  • Minimum 2 years nursing experience, including at least 1 year of NICU experience (neonatal intensive care)
  • Current BLS, NRP, and PALS certifications
  • Proven experience with Bubble CPAP, central line care and blood draws, PICC line care, and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
  • Familiarity with high-frequency ventilation and oscillators; ability to titrate dopamine and manage specialized NICU equipment (smart pumps, feeding pumps, isolettes, warmers)
  • LA Fire Card within the last 30 days (required)
  • Two supervisory references covering at least one year within the last three years
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at time of application; must be able to work 3 of 5 major holidays if assignment overlaps
  • Willingness to float between facilities within the state if required

NICU RN Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, compassionate care to neonates and infants in a Level III NICU setting
  • Perform and assist with specialized neonatal procedures: central line care, ROP exams, spinal taps, intubations (no surgeries performed at this facility)
  • Monitor and manage patients with prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome (RDS), and complex neonatal diagnoses
  • Operate and manage ventilators and advanced respiratory support (HFV/oscillators, CPAP/BiPAP), and titrate vasoactive infusions per protocol
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation using Epic and participate in unit quality improvement efforts
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including phlebotomy, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and neonatology
  • Participate in self-scheduling and provide weekend coverage as needed (typically every other weekend; may exceed to meet unit needs)
  • Adhere to facility policies, compliance modules, and floating requirements
