  • Shift: 12-hour nights (19:00 – 07:00), 3 shifts per week
  • Hours per Week: 36

  • Patient Population: Neonates and Infants (NICU)
  • Unit Size: 54 beds (Level III/IV NICU)
  • Orientation: 16 hours
  • Weekend Requirement: 3 weekends per 6-week schedule; every other holiday

Job Requirements (NICU RN / Travel Nurse)

  • Minimum 2 years of recent full-time Level III NICU experience (Level IV highly preferred)
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia (pending acceptable; must have in hand before start)
  • BLS and NRP certifications required (NRP must be current at time of submission)
  • Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate (pending acceptable; must be completed before start)
  • Epic charting experience required
  • BSN preferred
  • References required
  • Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)

Responsibilities (NICU RN / Neonatal Nurse)

  • Deliver comprehensive, family-centered nursing care to critically ill neonates and infants in a high-acuity NICU setting
  • Manage advanced respiratory support including high frequency ventilation, conventional ventilators, iNO, NIPPV/NIMV, CPAP/BiPAP
  • Perform and assist with procedures such as intubation, lumbar puncture, PICC placement, umbilical line placement, and chest tube placement
  • Administer and titrate IV fluids and medications, including vasopressors
  • Monitor and interpret ABGs, perform neonatal dosage calculations, and manage whole body cooling
  • Provide wound, drain, and line care, including CVL dressing changes and ostomy care
  • Float as needed to PICU, Pediatrics, Postpartum, and Labor & Delivery (baby catcher)
  • Document care accurately using Epic; maintain clear, timely charting for quality patient care
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support patient outcomes and family education
