Locum Tenens Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant – Home-Based Primary Care (New Orleans, LA)
Locum Tenens NP/PA – Home-Based Primary Care in New Orleans, LA with occasional coverage in Baton Rouge, LA. 13–26-week assignment, Monday–Friday schedule, competitive locum tenens pay, and a unique field-based care model providing in-home visits to patients across the community.

Weekly Estimated Pay: Competitive locum tenens compensation
Location: New Orleans, LA (with Baton Rouge flexibility)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, starting at 8:30 AM
Shift Duration: 8 hours per day
Hours per Week: 40
Assignment Length: 13–26 weeks (ASAP start)
Call: 1–2 times per month (telephonic triage only)
Patient Volume: 4–5 families per day
EMR: Athena
Travel: Mileage reimbursed at IRS rate (from central hub)
Time Off: No weekends required
Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Minimum 2–3 years of clinical experience
- Strong pediatrics experience required with comfort in family medicine
- Board Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- Active Louisiana license
- Current DEA, BLS, and CPR certifications
- Ability to work independently in a field-based/home visit setting
- Home health experience is a plus but not required
- Strong communication, organization, and patient engagement skills
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide in-home, primary care services to patients across the lifespan (cradle-to-grave)
- Deliver care primarily to Medicaid populations (Aetna/AmeriHealth), with a focus on women and children
- Perform routine clinical services including vaccinations, wellness exams, screenings, and assessments
- Collaborate with a Medical Assistant (“Family Advocate”) who collects vitals and supports visits
- Review patient charts and documentation using Athena EMR
- Participate in a daily morning team huddle (8:30 AM) to review schedules and patient updates
- Manage care plans, coordinate follow-ups, and document visits accurately
- Travel between patient homes; provider is responsible for driving
