Travel Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) – Jersey City, NJ
Join a collaborative perioperative team as a Travel Operating Room RN in Jersey City, New Jersey. This 13-week travel nursing contract offers an opportunity to provide safe, high-quality surgical care in a Level II Trauma Center while working as both a circulating and scrub nurse across multiple specialties. Travel Nursing Job Details
- Job Title: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)
- Location: Jersey City, New Jersey
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,750–$2,890
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- End Date: February 1, 2027
- Schedule: 5 shifts per week, 8-hour day shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Call: Approximately 2 call shifts per schedule
- Weekend Coverage: Required as scheduled
- Orientation: 16 hours
- Electronic Medical Record: Epic
- Winter Holiday Requirement: Work or provide on-call coverage for applicable winter holidays as scheduled
Operating Room RN Job Requirements
- Active New Jersey Registered Nurse license or Compact RN license
- At least 2 years of current acute care Operating Room nursing experience
- Demonstrated ability to work in both scrub nurse and circulating nurse roles
- Experience with Epic perioperative documentation
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Robotic surgery and ENT experience required
- Experience with orthopedic, vascular, general, thoracic, and neurologic procedures
- Level II Trauma Center experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply
- Ability to provide a scrub-and-circulate skills checklist and relevant work history
Travel Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide safe, efficient perioperative nursing care for patients across a broad range of surgical specialties, excluding open-heart procedures
- Circulate and scrub surgical cases while maintaining sterile technique and patient safety standards
- Support trauma-related cases and manage patient fluid needs according to clinical protocols
- Prepare operating rooms, equipment, instruments, and supplies for scheduled procedures
- Participate in robotic, ENT, orthopedic, vascular, general, thoracic, neurologic, and other complex surgical cases
- Review upcoming cases and coordinate equipment and procedural needs for the following day
- Accurately document patient care and perioperative activities in Epic
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, and the interdisciplinary surgical team to promote excellent patient outcomes
