Orthopedic Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Med-Surg/Ortho Nursing Job in Morgantown, WV

Join an experienced acute-care team as a Travel Orthopedic Registered Nurse (RN) in Morgantown, West Virginia. This 13-week assignment supports a 22-bed orthopedic and telemetry unit caring for patients recovering from joint replacements, orthopedic procedures, and fractures in a Level I trauma setting.

Travel Nursing Job Details

  • Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,930–$2,030
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks

  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts; Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m., with rotating holiday coverage
  • Shift Duration: 12 hours
  • Unit: 22-bed Med-Surg/Orthopedic and Telemetry unit
  • Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:5–6
  • Charting: EPIC
  • Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs

Orthopedic RN Job Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license or compact RN license eligible to practice in West Virginia
  • At least 1 year of recent orthopedic nursing or medical-surgical nursing experience
  • Strong orthopedic nursing experience, including total joint replacement care; fracture-only experience is not sufficient
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Experience caring for patients following joint replacements and other orthopedic procedures
  • Ability to work night shifts, rotating holidays, and the required weekend schedule
  • Willingness to float to other appropriate medical-surgical units as needed
  • Compliance with applicable vaccination requirements or an approved medical or religious exemption

Orthopedic Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to orthopedic and medical-surgical patients in an acute-care setting
  • Care for patients recovering from total joint replacements, orthopedic procedures, and fractures
  • Perform nursing assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes
  • Administer medications and treatments while monitoring patients for changes in condition
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing assistants, rehabilitation professionals, and other members of the care team
  • Monitor patients using unit telemetry resources; rhythm interpretation by the RN is not required for this assignment
  • Provide patient and family education related to mobility, recovery, safety, and discharge planning
  • Document care accurately in EPIC and promote safe transitions throughout the patient stay
  • Support a safe, respectful, and patient-centered environment on every shift
