Orthopedic Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Morgantown, West Virginia
Orthopedic travel RN opportunity in Morgantown, WV for an experienced Registered Nurse with total joint replacement expertise. Bring your acute-care nursing skills to a high-acuity, Level I trauma environment while caring for patients recovering from orthopedic procedures, joint replacements, and fractures. Join a collaborative orthopedic medical-surgical team with dedicated charge nurse coverage, CNA support, and structured unit orientation.
Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Morgantown, West Virginia — a welcoming college-town community known for its scenic Appalachian surroundings, outdoor recreation, and vibrant cultural atmosphere.
- Specialty: Orthopedic Registered Nurse (RN); orthopedic medical-surgical nursing
- Healthcare Setting: Acute care, Level I trauma center; 22-bed orthopedic/telemetry unit
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,930–$2,030
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts, Saturday through Monday, with rotating holiday coverage
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:5–6
- Charting: EPIC
- Orientation: 1–2 shifts on the unit
- Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs
- Floating: May be required to support comparable medical-surgical units
Orthopedic Travel RN Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in West Virginia
- At least 1 year of recent orthopedic or medical-surgical nursing experience
- Strong experience caring for total joint replacement patients; fracture-only experience does not meet the specialty requirement
- Current BLS certification
- Ability to care for patients with orthopedic joint conditions, replacements, and fractures
- Comfort working night shifts, rotating holidays, and required weekend schedules
- Ability to work effectively in an acute-care, Level I trauma environment
- Ability to meet applicable vaccination or approved exemption requirements
Orthopedic Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to orthopedic and medical-surgical patients throughout their hospital stay
- Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions, post-operative recovery, pain, mobility, and potential complications
- Care for patients following total joint replacements and other orthopedic procedures
- Administer medications and treatments safely while following current nursing standards and care plans
- Collaborate with providers, therapy teams, nursing assistants, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
- Recognize changes in patient status and communicate concerns promptly
- Provide patient and family education related to recovery, mobility, safety, and discharge planning
- Accurately document care in EPIC and support a safe, organized unit environment
- Adapt to unit needs, including potential floating to comparable departments
