PACU Registered Nurse Travel Job in Baltimore, MD | Post-Anesthesia Care Unit

  • Shift Duration: 12-hour rotating shifts

  • Schedule: Rotating days and nights
  • Shifts Per Week: 3
  • Weekend Requirement: 3 weekend shifts per 4-week period
  • Call Requirement: 1-2 call shifts every 4 weeks
  • Float Requirement: Required within specialty and to other units as needed
  • Unit Size: 28 bays
  • Patient Population: Neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics

Job Requirements

  • Active Maryland RN license or compact RN license at time of submission
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with strong ICU experience required
  • Previous charge nurse experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • BLS and ACLS required
  • PALS required
  • Epic experience preferred
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments
  • Comfortable floating within scope to PACU, pre-op, ICU, and affiliated areas as needed
  • Strong critical thinking skills and competence in high-acuity recovery care

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, high-quality pre-op and post-op recovery care to surgical and procedural patients
  • Monitor patients closely for changes in condition and respond quickly to evolving clinical needs
  • Titrate vasopressors and manage complex hemodynamic support
  • Perform airway management and care for ventilated patients
  • Administer blood products and support fluid resuscitation as clinically indicated
  • Support recovery for patients across multiple surgical specialties and acuity levels
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure efficient, patient-centered care
  • Provide support across the peri-anesthesia workflow, including recovery and pre-op areas when needed
  • Maintain a calm, professional presence in a fast-paced, high-volume PACU environment
