Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of recent PACU RN experience required
  • Previous travel nurse experience required
  • ICU experience required
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required
  • Experience with Phase 1 and Phase 2 PACU recovery
  • Comfort caring for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
  • Ability to manage patients with advanced monitoring and recovery needs
  • Open to floating within or near the facility as needed
  • Must be adaptable, team-oriented, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality postoperative nursing care for patients recovering from anesthesia
  • Monitor and assess patients in Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery
  • Care for patients arriving from the OR, EP Lab, Endo, IR, MRI, and ICU
  • Support recovery for surgical specialties including thoracic, vascular, neuro, ortho, plastics, ENT, urology, gynecology, bariatrics, and pediatric cases
  • Manage patients requiring close observation, including those with more complex recovery needs
  • Use advanced clinical judgment to determine readiness for discharge to Phase 2, home, the post-op tower, or ICU
  • Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure safe patient outcomes
  • Document care accurately in the electronic health record and communicate effectively with the care team
  • Maintain a calm, reassuring presence for patients and families during the recovery process
