PCU Registered Nurse (Travel) – 13-week contract in Asheville, NC; nights; estimated pay $1,800–$1,890/week.

Job Details

  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800 - $1,890
  • Location: 509 Biltmore Ave, Asheville, NC 28801 (Asheville, North Carolina — Blue Ridge Mountains)
  • Role: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse / Step-down nurse / Med-Surg RN
  • Setting: Main campus, PCU (23 step-down beds, 16 med-surg beds)
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks (March 23, 2026 – June 22, 2026)
  • Shift: 12-hour Nights (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) — Travel RN night shift
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Weekend Requirement: 6 Saturday or Sunday shifts in a 6-week period
  • Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (PCU, step-down, or med-surg experience preferred)
  • Experience caring for tracheostomy patients and stable ventilated patients
  • Active RN license (must meet travel RN state requirements)
  • ACLS and BLS certifications required
  • Previous experience with Cerner EMR preferred
  • Flexibility, strong clinical judgment, and a high level of clinical competence

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality care for step-down and med-surg patients, including patients with tracheostomies, chest tubes, and stable ventilator support
  • Perform unit procedures such as trach care, chest tube management, and wound dressing changes
  • Monitor cardiac drips, manage patient lifts, and operate other specialized equipment
  • Float to other med-surg and progressive care units as needed to support patient care
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team (physicians, respiratory therapists, PT/OT) to deliver coordinated care
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation using Cerner EMR
