- Weekend & Holiday Coverage: Required (rotating holidays)
- Floating: Required to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience required — PCU RN experience
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — compact license accepted or Ohio RN license in hand at submission
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- EPIC charting experience required (EPIC experience)
- Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Clinical skills: IV start, telemetry monitoring, central line care/management, peripheral line care, heparin protocols, high-flow nasal cannula, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Experience with IV insulin protocols, titration of insulin drips, and management of cardiac drips (no titration) required
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
- Ability to provide two professional references (at least one from manager/director or formal leadership)
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a busy Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with an estimated patient ratio of 1:3
- Monitor and manage patients with complex medical conditions including renal, hepatology, cardiology, pulmonology, and adult cystic fibrosis
- Administer and monitor cardiac drips, heparin, insulin drips; initiate pressors as needed (patients transferred to ICU for ongoing pressor management)
- Utilize specialized equipment such as lift equipment, IV ultrasound, and bladder scanner
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams: IV team, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and case management
- Float to other units within the organization as required (flexible PCU nurse)
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation using EPIC (electronic medical records)
- Participate in rotating weekend and holiday coverage
