Job Requirements
- Active RN license in the state of Connecticut (or multistate compact RN license)
- Minimum 1 year recent Labor & Delivery (L&D) nursing experience as a Registered Nurse
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Experience with fetal monitoring / Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) and maternal-newborn assessments
- Ability to work night shifts and adapt to a fast-paced hospital labor & delivery environment
- Strong communication, teamwork, and clinical decision-making skills
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) or other neonatal certifications preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based care to mothers and newborns during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period
- Monitor maternal vital signs and fetal heart tracings using EFM; recognize and respond to changes promptly
- Assist physicians and midwives during vaginal deliveries, operative deliveries, and L&D procedures
- Administer medications, IVs, and oxytocin per orders and hospital protocols
- Perform maternal and newborn assessments, support breastfeeding initiation, and provide postpartum education to patients and families
- Maintain accurate, timely patient documentation in the electronic health record
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (OB, pediatrics, anesthesia) to ensure optimal maternal-newborn outcomes
