• Healthcare Setting: Adult acute inpatient behavioral health and psychiatric stabilization
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,784–$1,982
• Start Date: December 7, 2026
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Schedule: 5 shifts per week, 8-hour day shifts; Monday through Friday
• Shift Options: 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. or 9:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
• Hours: 40 hours per week
• Patient Population: Adults through geriatrics; approximately 8 patient encounters per day
• Weekends: Not required
• Holidays: Required as scheduled
• On-Call: No pre-scheduled call shifts
• Floating: May be required within the specialty as needed

LMSW Social Worker Job Requirements

• Active Maryland LMSW license required
• At least 2 years of professional social work experience, including strong behavioral health or psychiatric experience
• Experience supporting adult and geriatric patients in an acute psychiatric or behavioral health setting
• BLS certification required
• CPI certification preferred
• First-time contract professionals are welcome to apply
• Strong communication, crisis intervention, clinical documentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills

Behavioral Health Social Worker Responsibilities

• Complete comprehensive psychosocial and psychiatric assessments for patients experiencing acute behavioral health needs.
• Support suicide risk assessments, safety planning, close-observation needs, and other patient safety interventions.
• Provide crisis intervention, behavioral de-escalation, individual support, group therapy, family therapy, and psychoeducational programming.
• Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning with psychiatry, nursing, social work, occupational therapy, recreational therapy, pharmacy, and case management.
• Assist with voluntary and involuntary psychiatric admission processes in accordance with applicable policies and regulations.
• Assess substance use needs and coordinate appropriate treatment and recovery resources.
• Develop thorough discharge plans and coordinate outpatient behavioral health, residential treatment, and substance use services.
• Collaborate with community providers and support continuity of care following discharge.
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation while promoting patient dignity, safety, and therapeutic engagement.
