Job Requirements / Qualifications

• Active Illinois medical license (required) — Illinois licensure for locum tenens physicians
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
• At least 1 year of experience in General Surgery or related emergency surgical care
• Clean background to allow for emergency privileges and hospital credentialing

Responsibilities — Night Call / On-Call General Surgery

• Provide night call coverage for General Surgery cases, including emergency general surgery and urgent surgical consultations
• Be available to respond to the hospital within a 30-minute response time when called in
• Triage and manage acute surgical patients, coordinate operative care as needed
• Collaborate with ED staff, nursing, and hospital teams to ensure high-quality patient care during night coverage
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and adhere to hospital policies and procedures
